Our Nomination for Regional Secretary: Fra Martin

Colleague, 

I am asking you to consider supporting my candidacy for CWU Regional Secretary Northern Ireland because, with your vote we can affect positive change for all our members within the Region. Building a Workers agenda against the backdrop of Brexit whereby we turn the political spotlight towards the domestic issues affecting our members within the World of Work. We must campaign and lobby on the crucial issues that`s specific to our members in the postal and telecoms services.

Our main priorities should be to ensure OpenReach is secured as an integral part of the fabric of BT moving forward and fervently campaign against the folly of full structural separation. We must continue to intensively lobby Ofcom so as we secure the future infrastructure of the entire Country`s communications and the aligned jobs moving forward.

Also, Royal Mail Pensions have to be protected& secured to ensure our members have a wage to live in their retirements coupled with a demand fora 35 hr week, extension of legal binding agreements & new delivery pipeline. These issues form the integral parts of the 4 Pillar CWU postal strategies developed to hopefully secure our members future terms within Royal Mail as a private company. Continue to oppose the closure of Crown Offices.

We will tackle regional issues such as:

• Austerity cuts& the impact on the N.Ireland economy, 

• Build more affordable social housing,

• Erode bullying & harassment in the workplace,

• Erode zero hour contracts,

• Tackle food poverty,

• Tackle child poverty 

• Help the homeless

• More regional campaigns for a fairer society

• Create a society for the millions not the millionaires

• Secure the NHS

This list reflects a flavour of some salient issues of my work on your behalf in this Region if you elect me the next Regional Secretary for N.Ireland.
